Broken Teeth – Bulldozer (TMU RECORDS)
Holy Shit – what the guys around singer Jason McMaster (Dangerous Toys / WatchTower) are presenting here is truly remarkable. Imagine the bastard of a relationship of Motörhead, AC/DC and Aerosmith. Seven tracks to admire, which hardly allow a breather. It starts with the fast-paced ‘Raining Fire’. With a great riff, great leads and a “full on 12” refrain. It goes on with the groovy ‘Red River Rising’ followed by the incredible ‘The Rough And The Tumble’. The latter song is an absolute live-breaker, a show-opening song par excellence. Pretty big! ‘Flamethrower’ goes exactly in the same vein. No time to breathe. Then it comes to ‘Lightning Strikes’, a great cover of an Aerosmith classic. Next is ‘Devil On The Road’. Again pure live rock – made for smoky and sweaty clubs. The conclusion of the EP comes with ‘The Hammer’ an homage to Lemmy of Motörhead. No better way to implement a cover version. Those who remain sitting quietly while listening to this album really got a problem. Just push play on and on. Thumbs up for Broken Teeth!

Baron Steele – Demo 1987 + The Lost Recordings on 7″ colored vinyl + bonus CD now on sale.
Baron Steele was formed in Austin, Texas in 1985 and entered the thriving Central Texas heavy metal scene which included such notable contemporaries as WatchTower, Militia, SA Slayer, & Wyzard. The band wrote epic, well crafted tunes influenced by European greats Witchfynde and Mercyful Fate, as well as lesser known U.S. metal acts like Griffin and Warlord. A two song demo was recorded in 1987 but received very little circulation due to the band’s dissatisfaction with the final studio mix. In light of this fact, the demo has become somewhat of a ‘cult classic’ known only to true diehard underground metal fanatics. TMU RECORDS has resurrected this lost tape, finally giving these classic songs a proper release on multi-colored vinyl. Each copy also includes a bonus CD of 6 unreleased never-before-heard tracks recorded live in the Baron Steele rehearsal crypt, a 20 page full color booklet packed with rare photos and an in-depth band interview, and an oversized 11×17 gig flyer reproduction. The ‘Collector’s Edition’ on splatter vinyl is limited to 100 copies and includes a pin-back button for your denim vest and a full color sticker. Finally, there is a ‘TMU RECORDS Exclusive Edition’ limited to 100 copies on A Side/B Side vinyl available only from the TMU RECORDS website.

Bridging the musical gap between 70’s Hard Rock and the burgeoning Heavy Metal sounds of the early 80’s, Wicked Step played an integral role in San Antonio earning its reputation as the Rockin’ Capital Of Texas. In a time when Disco and Yacht Rock dominated the airwaves, Wicked Step stood tall in delivering no-frills, ass-kicking Rock N’ Roll. Taking cues from their heroes Black Sabbath, Jimi Hendrix, Judas Priest, and Frank Marino – Wicked Step was a staple in the biker clubs, neighborhood bars, backyard parties, and guerrilla-style empty lot gigs. If Rock at high volume was needed, Wicked Step was always there to provide.
Besides a rare self-produced 7″ single, the recordings on this LP are the only surviving musical artifact of the band. No fancy studios at use here. These are raw and noisy tunes straight from the rehearsal room, pumped through a 12-channel Peavy mixing board, to a Realistic home cassette deck. Meant to be played loud, just as originally delivered.

Another killer San Antonio-based Texas metal gem…Wicked Angel emerged from the fertile grounds of San Antonio’s south side in early 1985. At the time, the average age of the band members was around 15 years old! The young band recorded a 2-song demo in 1986, but sadly that recording has been completely lost to the ages. After a string of successful gigs with Texas notables such as WatchTower, Syrus, and Assalant, the band returned to Blue Cat Studios and recorded their blistering ‘Chaotic Intellect’ demo in 1987.
For this release TMU RECORDS was able to utilize the original master reels, which have been professionally transferred to digital, and mastered for maximum vinyl fidelity.
